Workshops, Workshops, and more Workshops
How exciting! An entry with a little different flavor… Amidst the craziness of wedding season I thought it would be refreshing to mix things up a little. Always a fan of continued education and a chance to learn something new, I attended three different photography workshops in the last two weeks or so… Planet Neil with Neil Van Niekerk, The Freedom Tour with David Jay, and Very AltF with John Michael Cooper. All three were really amazing in very different ways. The lighting workshop with Neil was technically so stimulating, it was ridiculous… It was like all the lighting classes I ever took at Brooks years ago rolled into one “way” that is like a magic ‘answer’ to some of the main lighting issues wedding photographers are almost always faced with. So, that is completely awesome! And night shooting?? Bring it on! Neil, thank you so much, you are a great teacher! Next was David Jay who was fabulous as always. He’s such an inspiration and truly, such a great speaker too. If you missed it, the tour bus is headed east… BTW, if any of you photographers haven’t heard, DJ has developed a new self building website software called showitsites and you can download it for free. It’s sweeeet! I’m excited to create something new for myself this fall with it. And last, but definitely not least, the Very Alt-F day. All I can really say @ that one is that John Michael Cooper is a total BAD-***! And I mean that in the absolute best way possible. More than that, he and his wife are just really cool people, and they were both totally open to sharing their methods and techniques. I learned some sweet new things from them too!
So, the first three photos are a few images from Neil’s workshop. Check out how cool the light is, especially in the night scenes. Then, the few images of the bride in the field are from John Micheal Cooper’s demo. Hoo-ray for workshops!
