Ok, so this is actually a bit of a back blog. We did this shoot over a month ago now and as I was getting Stella’s photos ready to post I found Cate’s folder and realized I never posted anything from her shoot. Wedding season has sort of taken over my reality lately. Ann, I’m sure you are right there with me. Ann is a dear friend of mine, not to mention one of my very favorite wedding coordinators (Nancy Chase Weddings and Celebrations) in Denver. Anyway, Cate is the newest addition to the Marlin family. We did a photo shoot with their son when he was 6 months old, which was over two years ago now! We made the coolest little coffee table book for him and Ann wanted to make sure she got the same thing for lil’ Cate. What a little doll baby, I just want to squeeze her!

Jake and Vassi had their baby!! She came a little early and is so tiny…and totally perfect in every way. This was just our first of many photo shoots to come. It was so fun to see her! And she was such a good little model. The only thing she didn’t really like was when I tried to put her in her crib with all her little stuffed animals-ha! Jake and Vassi, I’m so excited for you both-Congratulations!! See you in three months. XO

It’s been a five year goal of mine to have my photography published in a national publication by the time I was 30. This month that became a reality! Professional Photographer Magazine ran an article in their Good Works section, featuring the art show I produced, Flow, with the Trelexa Foundation in an effort to produce aid for victims of domestic violence.  The piece printed here was actually the very first piece of art I ever sold in 2002,  and I remember thinking, “One day I want to do a show with them all (all, meaning the full water series I created along with this image in one particular industrial photo class I had taken.)” Anyway, I just want to express my thanks to the universe and all the powers that exist which allow us to manifest the things we imagine.  As a young dancer I remember seeing a big poster every day in the studio. I must have walked by it a million times… It was a big photo of a gymnast flying through the air, perfectly in alignment with the balance beam below her,and at the bottom it read “If you can believe it, you can achieve it; If you can see it you can become it.” I loved that poster… august-2008-good-works.pdf

This was the fifth and final shoot in the “baby’s first year” portrait collection that I have been doing for Neil and Heidi since Grace was born 13 months ago. It’s amazing how fast the time flies. Seems like just yesterday she was a newborn, and today she’s running around all over the place! We met Neil and Heidi and Grace and their dog, Sierra, at Wash Park just before sunset and had this really fabulously soft light. And the flower gardens on that southern end by the big pond are actually looking pretty amazing lately! A nice change since I used to live in that area for sure. I loved all the colors…. And Grace was hilarious! Heidi and Neil, it’s always a treat to see you guys! XOX to Gracie. I look forward to all the photo sessions in the years to come.. 2, 3, 4? forever??

Considering it was one of those rare days in Colorado when it actually does rain ALL day long, Devin and Matt were very sweet and totally easy and fun to work with. They say it’s lucky for it to rain on your wedding day, so Devin and Matt, you guys should be all set for a few years at least! Luckily, all the main events were scheduled for inside locations. The ceremony took place at the Trinity Methodist and the reception was at the Grand Hyatt in the Pinnacle ballroom on the 38th floor overlooking the city…I love that room! And it looked so cool with the city lights and the low clouds on the mountains. Everything was really pretty perfect… We even got lucky enough to go downtown for a few minutes with the wedding party for some fun photos, which was originally a high priority! It stopped raining just long enough at the exact perfect time we needed it to. Yay! And I especially love shooting in places I know we aren’t supposed to be and not getting chased off by security-ha! What can I say?? It’s a cool spot. You can see their slideshow here.
